Dr. Memili has received the Faculty Diversity Award at Mississippi State University in 2009. In addition, Dr. Memili was awarded competitive funding from the National Sciences Foundation for research and education. |

Dr. Dean Jousan received the Extension Customer Outreach Award at our annual extension conference this past November. |

Dr. Ty Schmidt received the 2009 Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award. |

Dr. Peter Ryan received the 2008-2009 Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award and Excellence in Teaching Overall Award of Merit in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Additionally, Dr. Ryan and colleagues Drs. Hopper, Christiansen, and Walters from the College of Veterinary Medicine were the recipients of the 2009 Rosalind and Rodney Foil Faculty Teamwork award. |
Mr. Jaime Curbelo Rodriguez,
a doctoral student in Animal Physiology, received a scholarship award from
the National Milk Producers Federation for the 2009 year.
Mr. Wilson Cooper Brookshire, a dual degree Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Master of Veterinary Science program was the recipient of a 2008-2009 Pork Leadership Academy Scholarship.
The 2009 Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences Reunion was
a success! Held
in September on campus, the reunion brought together former students and faculty
of the department, as well as current students, staff and faculty. Along
with food and fellowship, visitors got to tour our animal facilities on campus
and brush up on their animal judging skills. Alumnus Andy Williamson and
his band The Town Square Pickers entertained us with live music. It was
great to see old friends and we look forward to having another reunion in a few
years!
